Welcome Message

Dear Friends,

Once again after two decades we have the opportunity to host the annual National Neurotrauma Conference of the Neurotrauma Society of India. Pune has over the years become one of the major sought after cites with excellent living index in the country. However urbanization has brought its own woes. The vehicular numbers almost match the population density and chaos on the roads is the rule rather than exception. The desire to reach the destination “first” has resulted in ever increasing accidents and road rage with resultant assaults has become common.

The unique disregard of traffic rules and especially the refusal to use” helmets” by Punekars continues to persist inspite of mounting evidence to its benefits. The management of neurotrauma has undergone many changes but with a snail pace progress in outcomes. Severe brain and spine injuries continue to remain undefeatable apart from minor improvement in survival. Prehospital care and rehabilitation have become the areas of focus which show some promise. Let us meet, share our experiences and knowledge and hope we will bring about some positive change.I welcome you to “Amche Pune tithe Kai une ” (Our Pune where nothing is deficient) and assure you that you will have a memorable experience.
